Louisiana high school soccer has a long history.  The first known team was formed in 1926 at Holy Cross.  LA high school soccer soon died out, and did not make a return until the 1960's.  In 1969, Brother Alphonse LeBlanc of Rummel started the Greater New Orleans Interscholastic Soccer Football Association.  During the 1970's, several other leagues developed.  Of greatest significance was the New Orleans Interscholastic Soccer League.  During the early 1980's, high school soccer spread throughout the state and the Louisiana Interscholastic Soccer Association formed.  1986-1987 marked the first year that the Louisiana High School Athletic Association officially had a playoff champion.  Soccer continued to spread rapidly, creating the need to split into two divisions in 1989-1990, and then again, into three divisions of boys teams in 1995-1996. The girls added their third division in 2002-2003.
