Newman, coached by Gerry Mueller and led by U.S. National Team member, Dwayne Jones, third championship in five trips. It
was Newman's fourth trip to the Finals in five years and fifth in seven. Newman was undefeated, a feat that only four
teams in LA high school soccer history have ever accomplished.
Loyola in its third Semifinal appearance had its undefeated season ended by Newman. Parkview Baptist made its first Final
appearance ever. PBS would go on to win next year's title. Ouachita Christian made its first appearance in the Semifinal.
Newman coach Gerald Mueller won his third NSCAA Region 6 (Southwest) Private HS Coach of the Year Award.
