The expansion of high school soccer into three divisions in 1996 allowed new powers to emerge in Division II as well as
Division III. Vandebilt won its second third? title. Vandebilt was coached by Doug Hamilton.
Newman, coached by Gerry Mueller, made it to its third Final in four years, but for the first time, lost a championship game.
Episcopal School of Acadiana appeared in its seventh consecutive Semifinal match, but that string, and ESA's dynasty, would
end after the 1995-1996 season.
St. Frederick made it to its first and only Semifinal game.
Despite the loss, Newman's coach, Gerald Mueller, was named NSCAA Region 6 (Southwest) Private High School Coach of the Year
for the second year in a row.
