Catholic won its third title in four years, appearing in each state championship since the 1989-1990 season. Slidell was
attempting to repeat in this rematch of the 1991-1992 title game. Coach Trevor Watkins' St. Paul's team gave the Bears of
Catholic the closest game of the playoffs.
The championship game proved the consistency of the two programs, as one of the two teams won a Division I title every
year since 1986-1987. The dominance of the two programs during the late 80's and early 90's made them respected programs
for years to come.
