Catholic won its second consecutive title. Catholic was led by its All-American keeper Doug William, who was able to play
in the playoffs after being injured much of the season. De La Salle lost its second consecutive title game as well. Warren
Easton would start to get its reputation for poor sportsmanship as it was involved in a fight reported by the media. Similar
incidents in the playoffs would be reported twice again in future years.
Catholic High's coach, Kevin Couhig, was named NSCAA Region 6 (Southwest) Private High School Coach of the Year, marking the
first time ever a LA HS coach won the award.
